Learning Light has today published its estimates for the European e-learning market. The report suggests that, in 2010, the UK market will grow by “no more that 4.76% on the 2009 figure” to a total of some £472m. I prefer to rephrase it that the UK market has grown by “as much as 4.76%”, which is not bad considering the economic conditions and the near-decimation of face-to-face training.
France is predicted to show faster growth (7.64% on a market size of £375m), as is Germany (7.75% on £242m). Other smaller markets are reckoned to grow even faster, albeit from a lower base.
A brief summary of the report is available for download, free, from http://www.e-learningcentre.co.uk/.
Good stats to read, Clive! Particularly since you indicate that ILT has been decimated. How are trade shows being attended? I just presented at ASTD-TCC and BYOL 2010 and attendance was down. However, I hear DevLearn was well attended this year and Training 2011 (where I will also be presenting) is ahead of registrations from last year at this time. They are expecting around 2000 people.
ReplyDeleteOur business is up considerably in 2010, and we've actually doubled our staff to 12, since e-learning is being favored over ILT. What's building our business more specifically is our online simulation work ( www.wslash.net ). Anything like that you can point to over on your side of the pond?
